Create a simple foundation before adding automation.

1. Create an account for each place where you keep or owe money.
2. Add its opening balance and the date it represents.
3. Record income and expenses with their date, account, and category.
4. Review the summary and correct any balance that does not match.

Capture something quickly while keeping control of what enters your ledger.

1. Open Capture and dictate, type, or share the information you have.
2. Check the suggested amount, date, account, type, and category.
3. Edit anything that is incorrect or missing.
4. Approve the draft to add it to your ledger.

Text recognition speeds up entry, but always needs your review.

1. Start a capture from the camera, an image, or a supported file.
2. Wait for the app to suggest the details it can recognize.
3. Compare every suggested field with the original receipt.
4. Fill in anything missing and approve the transaction.

Keep monthly spending limits separate from repeating commitments.

1. Review or create categories that reflect your real spending.
2. Set a budget by period and category.
3. Add recurring bills with their frequency, amount, and next date.
4. Return to the plan to review their expected impact.

A forecast depends on the records and assumptions you enter.

1. Make sure opening balances and recent transactions are up to date.
2. Review the included income, spending, and recurring commitments.
3. Change an assumption to compare possible scenarios.
4. Treat the result as guidance and verify the underlying records.

iCloud sync is optional and depends on your Apple account and settings.

1. Sign in to iCloud on your device and enable iCloud Drive.
2. Check that UpLedger is allowed to use iCloud.
3. Turn on sync in UpLedger settings.
4. Keep the app connected until its first sync finishes.

Keep a readable copy for your records or external analysis.

1. Open Settings and choose the export option.
2. Select an available format and the data range.
3. Save or share the file using Apple's share sheet.
4. Check that the file opened and was saved where you intended.

Use the available Apple surfaces and approve each draft in UpLedger.

1. Check that your device and OS version are compatible and that the required features are enabled.
2. Start a capture with Siri, Shortcuts, or the Apple Watch app when available.
3. Open the draft in UpLedger and review its amount, date, account, and category.
4. Approve the transaction to add it to your ledger; a capture is not saved automatically.

Purchases are managed by the Apple ID used to subscribe.

1. Review the plan and price shown on Apple's purchase sheet.
2. To restore, use Restore Purchases on the subscription screen.
3. To cancel or change a plan, open iOS Settings > your name > Subscriptions.
4. Deleting the app does not cancel an active subscription.
